Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

DECA’s “We Care Mental Health Awareness Workshop” will be a week-long series of lunchtime events to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and promote mental health on campus. Students will develop empathy and support one another while engaging in meaningful conversations about mental wellness in an approachable and creative way.

Beads and Markers – Students will create custom mental health awareness bracelets with positive affirmations, and inspiring reminders, using colors that represent the mental health journey.

This activity will promote mindfulness and creativity while giving students a keepsake that symbolizes their support for mental health awareness.

Mental Health Motivational Bracelets – Each bracelet carries an uplifting message to boost students’ confidence and spread positivity.

Mental Health Stereotype Books – Students can explore its contents and engage in group discussions facilitated by DECA members.

Games (Uno, Checkers, Jenga, Connect Four) – Games will be available at stations where students can relax, de-stress, and build connections with peers. Games will be used to create "Break & Connect Zones," spaces where students can take a mental break while socializing and forming new friendships. These games encourage teamwork, laughter, and a much-needed mental reset.

Inspirational Coloring Bookmarks – Students will color and personalize these inspirational bookmarks, allowing them to express themselves creatively while learning calming techniques. Once completed, these bookmarks become a tangible reminder to take time for mindfulness and reflection.

Our goal is to raise awareness and educate students about mental health, combat stigma, and introduce them to school and community resources they may not be aware of. Through a combination of fun, hands-on activities, and educational resources.

My students are passionate, talented, and eager to make a difference in their community. They are incredibly diverse and bring unique perspectives to the table, making our campus a rich tapestry of voices and experiences.
