This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My request is for a class set of headphones that plug into the USB portion of a laptop instead of the headphone portion of the laptop. Our laptops are getting on in years and even though working fairly well, most of the headphone audio ports are no longer working.

"We can't hear!" is a common classroom complaint on days we use our headphones to practice on things like the listening portion of the ELPAC test in English Language Development classes, viewing a spoken word poem in Poetry class, viewing the news in Current Events class or completing standardized tests.

I only have a few computers in which the audio port still works making for a true challenge, especially at high stakes times like when we are doing state standardized testing in which the headphones are extremely important. My request for these types of headphones was turned down by my administration, so I have turned to Donors Choose to make sure that my students have what they need, when they need it, in the quantities they need it.
