This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Creepy crawlies and teeny, tiny microbes! Those are the things we long to see, but alas we have no illuminated microscopes in our lab. Won't you help?
My students are inner city children, 98% Hispanic and 98% receiving reduced/free lunch, with few opportunities to experience Science outside the classroom. They are fascinated by the natural world and love to look at various things through hand lenses and Magiscopes, but what they are able to see with those devices is limited. Currently, we are studying Life Science, and although we can see some pond organisms from our school pond and some of the details of the insects we study, I would love to give them the opportunity to see more.
I am requesting an illuminated compound microscope for the 5th grade Science lab, which will be used by 5 classes of students. Your gift will enable my students to get "up close and personal" with the world around them and spark their desire to continue their explorations.
