My Students

My students have been identified with language based disabilities, are diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and have extreme difficulties with executive functioning skills. They are hard-working and focused learners, striving to succeed at the middle school level. It is not always easy for them due to their challenges. Our school is inner city, in a low income area, where technology is not readily available.

My students do not have computers at home that they can utilize to complete projects and reports.

The tablets will give them opportunity to get these tasks done, as often they are required to type in order to receive higher grades.

My Project

My wonderful students are very intelligent; however, they are overwhelmed with the expectations of the middle school curriculum due to their disabilities and challenges that they face on a daily basis.

Having access to iPads to assist them with academic tasks will allow them to participate in classroom activities, complete required tasks, and reinforce strategies to help them read and write as their same-aged peers do.

They will be able to bring these to their inclusive classes to use during instruction and independent work. They will use them during their time in the learning resource room with me, to edit, complete, work together, etc. They will give them the tools necessary to become more successful students.
