My Students

I am blessed to teach an incredible group of kids each year! These kids continually amaze me, year to year, despite the learning challenges they face daily. They are smart, caring, and hardworking! When I tell you they are incredible, that is an understatement! The majority of my sweet students struggle to learn, but refuse to give up! Our school is located in a low income area, where all of the students qualify for free meals.

My students will now start the year with distance learning.

This is not an easy pill to swallow considering their diverse learning obstacles. A computer stand will allow me to raise my computer so that I can better see my hands and notebook. With this ability they will better be able stay focused on my lesson. My hope is to still be able to build a family with my students even though they are not physically with me. They know that in our class, they will learn even though it may look less traditional than most would imagine. I consider my students family, and we will continue to work diligently together to maintain this feeling in my classroom.

My Project

After 27 years in the classroom, I thought I had everything I could need to teach successfully. Then COVID-19 hit and I realized just how unprepared i was to to switch from in person to distance learning overnight. After an entire Spring of online learning, i'm ready to tackle a new year but now know how to better serve my students> The materials I am requesting will not only be helpful now but will also be put to good use once we're safely back in the classroom. I'm hoping to make this transition to a new class and grade level go as smoothly as possible! By allowing each student to bring home a copy of this wonderful book, we will be able to continue to study content rich literature. I hope to use this in whole group discussions as well as in breakout rooms on Zoom to help build my students' fluency. It is my hope that my new 4th grade students will continue to develop their love for reading with this tale by an author that I myself loved as a child! Please help me get a copy of this book to each of my incredible students.
