Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are incredible individuals. They come to Adapted Physical Education ready to go. For many of them, this is the highlight of their day because it is one of the few times they get to be active and have fun!

These students bring their own uniqueness and abilities to class.

My students are in a one of a kind program for students with autism in a typical citywide school. They are in inclusion classes with general education students and participate in all school activities.

My Project

We don't have a gymnasium, but that doesn't mean we can't be the best that we can be. My student's participate in Physical Fitness testing and this equipment will motivate and assist them getting stronger.

My students enjoy Adapted Physical Education but many don't have the intrinsic desire to be physically active.

As their teacher, I look for equipment and activities to make it a novel experience so that there are positive memories associated with the experience.

The hurdles will make running more of a game than a chore for my students. The hurdles will also allow coordination and jumping skills to be improved. My students are visual learners, the sit and reach box would make practicing for the test easier since it would be hands-on.
