My Students

My transitional kindergarten students bring energy and joy to our classroom daily both virtually and in-person. They enter the classroom bouncing and skipping, ready to embrace the day. They are bright and curious and look forward to each new classroom experience. These young cherubs are thinkers, creators, problem solvers, and collaborators. I want to bring rich experiences and tap into their insatiable appetite and natural curiosity to learn. Providing them access to collaborative and innovative hands-on and heads-on learning in an exciting and motivating way while opening doors to the magic of school experience is essential. Even though our class meets virtually for now, we are still a beautiful community of learners.

What better way to help build a caring community than by creating an environment of choice, empathy, and respect for one another than through a comfortable and rich learning environment with options.

I want to give them opportunities and tools that will help them as they continue to grow and learn.

My Project

My students are more engaged in activities where they are active participants. The four Bee-Bot Robots will be used in small groups to give students opportunities to handle and program the robots in the areas of language arts, math, and science to support our curriculum.

The Mice and Critter Robots will create complex thinking, give my students access to technology, and increase understanding of skills in literacy, math, and science.

Specifically, students will learn to use words related to location, direction, and distance, including vocabulary words such as, here/there, over/under, left/right, above/below, forward/backward, and between. Students will use technology to solve age-appropriate problems and communicate thoughts and ideas in a step-by-step manner. Cooperative learning will also be key as students work together to accomplish a simple task. Students will program the Mouse and Critter Robots using simple navigational terms on a gridded map. Lastly, my students will write code using five commands: forward, left, right, clear, and go
