Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a teacher experiencing their first year teaching English Language Learners, I have quickly realized that students who are not familiar with the English language struggle the most.

In my opinion, speaking and understanding a new language gives each student a new vision in life.

That is my priority as an ELD teacher. I want the best for every one of my students, especially those who cannot speak a language they may hear in their world majority of the time.

With these resources, my ELD students can grow as learners and realize that they can understand a language they are not familiar with. These specific resources can benefit them in the future! A notebook is a resource they can hold onto forever and I plan to use it during our ELD time. It will provide them with visuals that correlate to a specific word as well as sentence starters they can use when writing or communicating with others. As they get older, they can use it as a reference when needed as well as a memory of their growth in learning the English language. Anchor paper will be commonly used in the classroom as an additional piece of reference when they are working independently in the classroom.

With the help of these resources, I hope to see my student's growth and confidence this year flourish in my classroom.
