Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you know that most of my parents can't afford a computer for their homes? That means my students have no access to any kind of Internet unless they are at school. Some of my students use their parents' phone to do research because that is all they can use.

My students are a mixture of 2nd graders, 4th graders and 5th graders in a part-time gifted program offered at our school in Hialeah, Florida.

My students come from different parts of the world. I have students from Cuba, Nicaragua and even Argentina. Most of my students can't afford the latest technology and rely on the school for help. My students love to read and do projects on interesting topics like current events and ways to save the world.

My Project

My students need an iPad tablet. I know that having access to a tablet will expand student knowledge of different research topics being discussed in class. I can even assign the tablet to a student every week as an extra credit to do extensive research on the topic being discussed in the class and then expand from what they have researched on the topic.

My project is extremely important because if technology is the way of the future and I can't bring it into the classroom, then it's a disservice to the students.
