My Students

My students are amazing! They surprise me each and every day and keep me learning more for them. We seriously have some of the best students in our small-town elementary school.

My students are always ready to try something new, because of that, I want to be a better teacher every day.

I want to grow with them!

Our school is over sixty percent free or reduced price lunch recipients, but together our community, parents, and staff work to get us everything we need. I am so grateful to have wonderful people like you also partnering with us to help get our students everything they so deserve.

My Project

Paula Phillips is the founder of the extraordinary nonprofit Right Road Kids. She is also award-winning radio show host, children's author, and motivational speaker for children and educators. A year ago, I had the opportunity to have her do a wonderful Skype session on self-esteem and kindness with my classroom. From that presentation, I was inspired and able to build on the strong lesson, continuing to teach my students about the joy of random acts of kindness and making the world a better place. This message and lesson is crucial in our children's lives. Now, every month, I have my students take part in kindness events and projects that are life-changing for them AND those they help. This Skype session would again bring Paula and the extraordinary Right Road program into our classroom this school year, all the way from California!

In addition to the vital kindness lesson, I want my students to know that THEY ARE SPECIAL.

Through this session, Paula would help children come to understand that out of all the people in the whole world, there is only ONE of them. I focus on the importance of relationship-building with my students every day. I let them know that they are each a unique, special person, but hearing it from another adult in the uplifting way that Paula is able to convey is exactly what they need.

In addition, Paula would provide follow up in terms of needed school supplies for our classroom even after the Skype session is over. And the corresponding Right Road class pack would also allow us to continue our journey through knowing that we are special, believing in ourselves, and living in kindness.
