My students need safety glasses, clipboards, and gloves to support us in our work as scientists and a tarp for our study of transportation and engineering.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Taff's classroom raised $226

My Students
I teach 40 curious third grade students. They are an excited and eager bunch of learners and explorers who come from diverse backgrounds. We are located in a school district that is mostly Title I, and my students come from all across the district with some even coming from outside of it.
Being a part of a science magnet school, my students know they are scientists.
They are actively involved in their learning and set out to conquer anything that comes their way.
My Project
I teach 3rd grade math and science at a science magnet school. I tell my students every day, "You are scientists! We use tools, not toys."
I encourage my students to act like scientists and to think like scientists.
These materials (safety goggles, gloves, clipboards) will help them to LOOK like scientists as well! I want to foster interaction in my classroom and boost engagement in our studies. These tools will help us to do so.
Jean Jacques Rousseau said, "We should not teach children the sciences but give them a taste for them."
My goal this year is not to check off a list of standards taught but to give my students enough of a taste for science that they never stop questioning. By looking the part, they will be that much more engaged in what they are doing. Not only will you help me boost engagement in science and give my students a taste of what it's like to be a scientist, but you will also help keep them safe with safety goggles and gloves.
