This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Students with autism have a need for sensory stimulation. Something as simple as a favorite fidget toy can help calm the nervous system and allow students to refocus. Without making these resources easily accessible these students lose a lot of valuable learning time that students in the general education classroom receive. When ASD students receive their allotted amount of instructional time they are more than capable and more likely to reach their academic goals. As the teacher I feel a moral obligation to provide the sensory resources to make this a reality.
