My Project

My students are curious preschoolers attending a Montessori primary classroom in Gilbert, Arizona. They love to hear stories and explore books on their own in our classroom library. I chose some additional high-quality books for the library to give them some new options. Selecting high-quality literature for young minds is very important.

Despite their young age, some of our students are ready to read!

Because this is a multi-age classroom, we have some students just starting preschool for the first time, and some who will be going to kindergarten next year. Having a collection of beginning reading books will help those who are ready and eager to learn to read. I am a reading specialist, and my goal is to take the students who are interested and self-motivated and let them fly! I asked for multiple quantities of most book sets so that students can read together in small groups, either with me or with each other. They learn best from peers, as is obvious in a Montessori classroom, and they will feel so proud being able to read books together.

I have also asked for a couple reading tools to assist the younger students with their phonemic awareness skills- that is focusing on ideas that letters make sounds and sounds put together make words.
