My Students

Please Help! You can make a difference. We want to read and we want to succeed like everyone else.

"Every child has a different learning style and pace.

Each child is unique, not only capable of learning but also capable of succeeding" - Robert John Meehan. I truly agree with this quote and with appropriate resources, children can succeed. This is a transitional bilingual education class. All children in this class are English learners. My goal as a transitional bilingual teacher is to help my students to speak, read, and write at an appropriate grade level. In order to reach my goal, some materials and resources are needed.

My Project

In class, we will be using the books to do guided reading. Guided reading is a program that customized instruction to help all students become strategic and independent readers who love to read. In order for this program to take place, students must read books at their level. Also, the students will be getting 5 books every week to read at home independently. Afterwords, they will complete a reading response log to deepen their understanding of the story.

Reasons why reading is important to children: 1.

Academic excellence. 2. Mastery of language. 3. More logical thinking skills. 4. Enhanced concentration and discipline. 5. Acclimation to new experiences. Every child needs books and we thank you for all your help!
