Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This fall I will be beginning the school year with a study of poetry! Our guiding question to launch this study is: "What inspires authors to write poetry?" Students will have the chance to research an author according to their interests and investigate their inspiration.

Help me ensure that my students have poetry books of authors from a wide range of backgrounds to inspire them!

To make this study authentic and engaging, I need more books from authors that my students can relate to including authors of color, authors from New York, and bilingual authors. With these texts, I know my students will will have strong models to become poets themselves by the end of our unit!
