My Project

My Preschool classroom this year will include students who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing. They have all received an implant such as a Cochlear Implant, Baha, or use a Hearing aid to help them access the language around them. Research shows that play allows children to use their creativity while developing their imagination, dexterity, and physical, cognitive, and emotional strength. Play is important to healthy brain development. It is through play that children at a very early age engage and interact with the world around them.

The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them an opportunity to develop and strengthen their language skills through play and exploration.

The additional dramatic play manipulatives will allow students to have opportunities to converse with peers and begin to make connections to their everyday life. The kitchen and dress-up clothing will allow them to use their imagination and create an exciting environment to interact with their peers.

I have seen how play and exploration can positively affect my student's language skills and demeanor and hope that the additional options will help us grow even more!
