Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically...intelligence plus character-that is the goal of a true education." -Martin Luther king Jr. Our goal is to improve student behavioral outcomes, build a positive school climate and change our students mindsets.

My students are predominately students whom reside in temporary housing such as: shelters.

My students who are mostly English Language Learners. My students are those residing in the poorest district in the Country. They are victims to their circumstances. My students are survivors. My students are students who do what they can with limited resources. My students are also students with learning and emotional and social disabilities. My students can be very challenging when it comes to appropriate behavior. On the contrary, many of my students are like clay. They need to be molded. When they are focused, they are hard workers whom which possess "Growth Mindsets."They can also be very loving and caring. My students are struggling learners, but do try their best. My school is a warm, welcoming school that is all about community and family. My school has a great sense of culture. Every staff member cares about the students and each other.

My Project

My students need 20 board games to improve their socialization skills, interaction and engagement time with their peers. They also need eight Play-Doh sets to learn to mold. Can you envision classrooms filled with students learning through play, and having fun during Positive, Behavioral, Interventions and Supports (PBIS) time. They can see the students engaged, turn taking, sharing, smiling and in thought. Students will be able to cooperate and work together as a team. They will be able to listen and follow directions better. These incentives are given as a result of good behavior or good character, students will learn how to be respectful, responsible and safe at all times. Most importantly, students will be able to understand the true meaning of education, as they learn how to become better readers, writers, scholars and productive members of society.

My students will be able to interact socially with their peers appropriately and encourage each other to continue to do well in school.

They will be able to take turns, and share. They will be able to cooperate and work together as a team. They will be able to listen and follow directions better. Because these incentives are given as a result of good behavior or good character, students will learn how to be respectful, responsible and safe at all times. Most importantly, students will be able to understand the true meaning of education, as they learn how to become better readers, writers, scholars and productive members of society. The donations made towards this school wide project would help improve all classrooms in the school, most importantly the school store.
