This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
The Golden Honey Bears are a kindergarten class and they are quite a creative group. They are very creative and love to act out our morning readings. We share out by doing reenactments of what has been read and by putting on puppet shows for our neighbors in the next classroom.
What is so unique about my class is as a whole group we write our own short stories and scripts.
You can image some of the stories they come up with, but we write it out practice and perform. My students love to read their own stories and scripts during our Guided Reading block.
By having the students read what they have written helps them to develop a love for reading. Believe me it works they love to read.
My Project
Having a color printer and scanner in the classroom will allow my students to have their own story book that they created and not have to share with a partner.
My students love to read from their own copy of what they have written.
By having a printer in the classroom I will be able to print a copy of all their writings, without them having to share copies.
I also would like to give each student a copy of their work at the end of the school year as part of their portfolio. My intent is to grow my students love for reading.
