Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach kindergarten in California. Most of my students qualify for free and reduced lunch.

Every day is a new learning experience for my four and five year old students. My students learn early on to be active in their learning. Our classroom is set-up in a way that students can easily access learning materials and so that they can enjoy what they are doing. My students also want to capture every moment of their learning, especially after they have created something special such as an architectural masterpiece or a painting worthy of being placed in a museum.

Organization of our materials is important in our classroom. Students appreciate it because they can get straight to learning, practicing and exploring. My students would benefit from the placement of posters to indicate where each learning center is located. Another item that will be greatly benefit my students is having the Help Yourself Read-Along organization rack where we will store a selection of read-along books with a tape or CD player. For the classroom library two bean bag chairs will add comfort and make it more inviting. Alphabet learning games and a vocabulary building pocket chart will also help enhance my students abilities in those areas. By having the Canon Powershot digital camera readily available in our classroom we will ensure that we capture the learning taking place inside our kindergarten classroom.

You will make it possible for my students to capture important events, comfortably enjoy a book, practice alphabet and vocabulary skills, and also that they can continue to easily access learning materials.
