Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is low income, and 100% of students qualify for free/reduced-price lunch. My students face a lot of challenges that I can't even imagine. However, that doesn't stop them from wanting to learn.

My kinders come to school every day ready to learn and grow their brains.

For most of them, this is the first school experience, and I am their first teacher. This is a huge responsibility as it sets students up for success for the remainder of their school years. They come in the door every day anxious to learn and full of bright ideas.

My Project

My students love creating. They love drawing, painting, and building. They are full of creativity. Sadly, in my district, students do not have the opportunity to go to art class. However, I believe that art is an important subject that can't be ignored or forgotten. Art lets children see the world in different ways and allows them to express themselves. My project focuses on getting art supplies into my students' hands to enhance and enrich their artistic and creative sides.

My kindergarteners love to create.

Therefore, my project consists of a lot of different supplies in order to allow them to explore and create in a variety of ways. Paints and brushes allow them to put color on pages. Students will use blocks in creating sculptures that can be made over and over again. Multi-cultural crayons will enable students to draw themselves and their families. Mod podge lets students give their works of art a special shiny glaze. Students will use Sharpie markers to provide contrast to their drawings. Lastly, Clorox wipes will ensure that our classroom is clean and is ready for the next day of learning.
