My Students

Fabulous Firsties! There is no better way to describe my students other than being fabulous. I teach a group of 30 enthusiastic and curious first graders. Majority of my students are English language learners. They have come to me with open minds and open hearts. Many of my students are English Language Learners, who are just looking for the opportunity to learn. They are striving to become independent thinkers and workers.

Despite having many hardships against them, my students are ready and willing to conquer any challenge due to their inquisitive nature and their drive to succeed.

Many of my children come from families that are considered to be of low economic status. This puts them at a great disadvantage when it comes to academics. I have wonderful families that want their children to succeed but due to a lack of finances and language barriers, the odds are against them. I admire how hard my students work and how eager they are to learn. I would love to provide them with as many resources possible to help them achieve their goals!

My Project

I am requesting these materials as diversity and tolerance is the focus of our school building. Our school currently has students from 27 different countries. Having these resources will enable me to reach my students not only on an academic level but also on a personal level. Many of these books are about children just like them. It will also help to close the gap between cultures. This bundle will help my students learn about what makes all of us unique.

These books and resources will help me bring my lessons to life by not only providing support to our diversity curriculum but by also providing them with a hands on, engaging learning experience.

I plan to use these resources through out my literacy, writing, and social studies units ,as well as for art and and social emotional growth. When students are engaged through this kind of learning it gets them excited. Excited learners put what they learn into action. All of this will help me reach my objective of creating a classroom community that values all cultures and promotes unity. This in turn, this will allow my students to become well rounded individuals that will help make this world a better place.
