This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My school is located in a high-poverty neighborhood, where many families are struggling, and almost all students receive free lunch.

The materials I am requesting are for the students I will receive in September. I am unsure of exactly who the students will be or what they will be like, but based on my 10 years of experience in the district, I can make an educated guess. My class will consist of 25-30 kindergarten students. Most, if not all, of the students will receive free lunch. Many students will speak English as a second language and their parents will not speak or read English at all. All of the students will be very excited to be starting kindergarten. They will all be very eager to learn.

My Project

The supplies I am requesting will be used on a daily basis throughout the entire school year. They will be used during small group/center work. Each student will require their own supplies, as sharing items may still not be allowed. Not only will these supplies help keep everyone safe, but they will also help students take ownership of their own materials.

Students will use the Play-Doh, Caydo Pompoms, Dry Erase Pockets, Edxeducation Jumbo Tweezers, and Westcott scissors to complete small group/center activities in relation to letter recognition and letter sounds.
