My Project
Literacy is arguably the foundation of education. While at school, younger students learn to how to read so that as they become older and more fluent they will be able to read new books to understand the world around them. As students progress, books become more complex and appropriate to their age and phase of development.
For students who face difficulties with reading, it becomes even more difficult to find enjoyable books with age-appropriate content.
Without high interest books, these students have no way to practice reading, and no way to enjoy reading. In these situations, reading becomes an arduous task that is often avoided.
With subscriptions to Super Science, Dynamath, and these new books, students will be excited to read. As they become better readers, they will be more willing to read at home and in school, be it with family, friends, or independently. Through literacy they will be able to further develop their self-esteem, social skills, independence, and community!
