My Project

Teaching in the garden provides so many hands-on opportunities to learn, whether that means planting a seed in the soil or harvesting fresh produce to turn into a healthy snack. Sometimes, the best way to connect with the students, though, is to find a shady spot under a tall tree and read them a story, whether that's a brave tale about protecting our water resources or an A-Z guide to composting.

That's why we are requesting an upgrade to our garden library: colored pencils for art projects, folders for organization, interactive bug toys and garden cards to engage our younger and special ed students and, of course, a bunch of new books about gardening, healthy eating and the environment.

We are also requesting a large industrial shelf to better organize the space. Due to storage issues, currently their books are hidden away in a cabinet. With the help of this new shelf, as part of a total garden shed redesign, our space will be lighter, brighter, and contain a dedicated area to display the little library we're amassing and provide recommended reads for the kids to peruse at their leisure.

Additionally, we are requesting some sunscreen and cleaning wipes to keep our area clean and our skin safe!
