My Students

My students are unique in that they are all TAG - Talented and Gifted - which means that they have scored at the 97th percentile or above on a standardized test of intelligence or achievement.

Worksheets aren't enough!

These students need challenges and chances to go deep into inquiry in a subject, and then the opportunities to express their learning in a variety of ways.

They need challenges and enrichment that our rural, impoverished community can't always provide. These students have the capabilities and the gifts to become wildly successful human beings - but only if we support them.

My Project

Our job is to provide enrichment for our intellectually gifted students. This project combines hands-on inquiry-based science with art, allowing our students to explore geological processes and to communicate their observations in a visual format.

We learn by doing; we remember by recording our observations.

We plan to have students explore erosion by working at the stream table with various natural materials and ones that we make in class, taking notes and making sketches as they go. They will then record what they see in visual art form with the watercolor materials as well as journaling and summarizing what they discover.
