My Students
Our classroom is an open and inviting environment designed to foster independent student learning. My students are thirsty for new materials to continue their education.
I teach in a public urban multi-age Montessori school with 65 first through sixth-grade students.
My students learn through small group and individual lessons, research and inquiry, and by going out into our community. My students come from all different backgrounds, racially and socioeconomically, and live in an urban setting. My co-teacher and I are piloting a combined Montessori 1st-6th grade classroom.
My students are involved in social justice and environmental conscious movements, taking a stand and trying to better the world. Our students work hard with the resources they have to follow their passions and find meaning in their education. In case you are wondering... I have the greatest students in the history of the world.
My Project
How does Morse Code work? How did Alexander Graham Bell invent the telephone? How can we make buildings more safe during an earthquake? We are hoping to get new STEM and STEAM kits for our classroom to create hands on experiences.
The kits in this project will build not only students' science knowledge but challenge their critical thinking skills with STEAM activities.
In our Montessori 1st-6th grade classroom, students work independently or in small groups, and these kits will be appropriate for a wide range of student ages, interests and abilities.
This project includes kits that will demonstrate simple machines, electricity, Morse Code, telephones, earthquake safety, spatial reasoning and building structures. Thank you for considering our project!
