Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"Give a man to fish and he will eat for a day, teach a man to fish and he will eat for a lifetime." This is our classroom belief as we start our day. We will achieve our goal with fidelity and persistence one step at a time.

My students are a combination of 1st through 3rd grade Special Education, English Language Learners.

They are eager and willing to apply themselves as their acquisition of language develops. Students in my class are creative, bright, and inquisitive. Your help with resources to our class, will definitely contribute to the fulfillment of our goal to become fluent readers. Our school is a a low poverty school which continues to strive each year. We believe our students are achievers and can conquer all adversities that they may encounter.

My Project

Requested materials will be used in whole group, small centers, and a teacher led group. The Sound it Out, Word Stretchers, and Fluency Listening center will be used intensely as whole group instruction, followed up by smaller center led groups. Literacy centers will give my students what they need as they practice how to sound out and blend letters together and form words which will ultimately build fluency. Students learning English as a second language are challenged while learning to understand and grasp meaning of daily English language. The resources I've chosen will promote mastery of this difficult concept.

These resources will allow my students to practice their phonics skills along with fluency.

I've chosen to focus on materials that will enable my students as they become proficient learners of English skills in the areas of reading, listening, speaking and writing.
