My Students

We are currently living and learning in a connected world and my students would love to be a part of it! However, I have very limited funds available to purchase needed supplies for my classroom. So if I want to expose them to (expensive) technology, it comes from my pocket.

I teach a diverse 1st grade class of 24 children in a low-income, high-need school.

My class has a wide range of academic skills: from children with little background knowledge due to limited experiences to gifted and talented students who are working 1-2 grades above level! And all are ready to learn! I have children that come to school without many school supplies or lunch money; 75% of my school are on the free or reduced lunch program. We currently have a Russian tortoise (brought to us by Donor's Choose!) named Owen. Students ask me all the time about Owen and how we is over the weekends and breaks (when I take him home with me). They love their class pet!

My Project

I have grown up surrounded by technology and love to incorporate it as much as possible, but with limited funds, it can be hard. Students today not only love exposure to technology, they also need it to succeed in the world today. One way I can bring them some technology into their world and homes is by getting a webcam so they can view their class pet and friend, Owen. They always want to know what he does at night or over breaks and with this webcam, they will be able to witness it not only first-hand but live!

You donations, no matter how big or small, will help us reach our goal of getting a webcam!

My students have truly enjoyed received projects from Donor's Choose and always show such gratitude, even for first grade. Your donation will really help broader their vision of the world they live in!
