Help me give my students cold weather gear such as gloves and beanies for their first winter and to participate in outdoor after-school activities such as running club!
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Every student deserves access to the proper winter gear so that they can come to school warm and ready to learn. By providing students with hats, gloves, and neck warmers, we can help them prepare for winter in NYC which can average 29°F - 40°F.
During these tough times, many of our low-income families are not able to fully provide their children with these winter essentials.
Many of our students recently immigrated to the United States so this will be their first winter. This gear will also allow our after-school running club to help get kids moving and active, even when the temperatures get a little chillier. Proper hats, gloves, and neck warmers will allow our students or "Warriors" (school athletics team name) to train for their 5k race and even build confidence by allowing them to run in a real race!
