Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My school serves an immigrant community. Most of our students are recent arrivals to the United States, some of them are born here, but their first language is not English. Learning English is one thing they have in common, another is that they come from humble backgrounds. They have left their homes and they have to adapt to a new country.

Many of them do not have medical insurance and never been to an eye doctor.

I have observed that many of our students squint constantly, obviously, they need glasses, but they do not have the means to get them. I am hoping that this partnership with National Eye Care and Warby Parker, some of our students will be able to see better and learn better!

My Project

This project will provide free eye exams and glasses for 30 students, which will help my students in their academics. Many of my students can't see properly and do not have the means to go see a doctor, nor get prescription glasses. If they can't see the board, they can't learn properly! I am hoping my students will benefit from this partnership.

Please help my students have one less obstacle in their academic life, I know it will change their lives.

Not being able to see the board or read the letters on a book can impede students success. I wish my students could have one less obstacle in their difficult lives.
