Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My school is a Title I school. Ninety percent of the students we serve are socio-economically disadvantaged. Eighty-one percent of the students are Hispanic/Latino. Fourteen point two percent of the students are Asian. Three percent of the students are White, and two percent are classified as other. These kids are faced with many challenges both inside and outside of the classroom. However, those challenges do not define them. My students are encouraged to persevere and overcome through hard work. My course involves project-based learning to encourage students to become problem solvers and critical thinkers, so they have the skills necessary to succeed in life.

My Project

I would like to provide a warm welcome to my new students after a coming back from a year of distance and hybrid learning by sending students a hand written postcard personally welcoming them to the school and to my class.

I hope that receiving a handwritten note the first week of school will provide a hand touch that shows their teacher cares.

It is my hope that this will alleviate some anxiety about coming back, and provide them with the anticipation a safe and welcoming environment in which they can succeed.
