My Project

My students are creative elementary schoolers that are curious about the world around them. They participate in counseling services to build the skills needed to manage stress, anxiety, sadness, and frustration. Mindfulness techniques are a powerful tool for students to ground themselves and maintain focus in both academic and personal situations.

I'm requesting materials for mindfulness activities including deep breathing and grounding exercises to help students build self awareness and remain in the present moment.

Our students will be developing their emotion regulation skills by learning deep breathing with "hot cocoa breaths." They will enjoy smelling the hot cocoa, cooling it off with deep breaths, and taking slow sips. The puppets will help students remain engaged in read aloud activities that will introduce different aspects of mindfulness. We are also requesting supplies which will develop grounding skills to reduce anxiety by exploring the 5 senses (taste, smell, hear, see, touch/ feel).

Winter is a time when many students feel more pressure, but with the right tools and techniques, they can embrace the season with a sense of calm and confidence. This project will provide students with essential mental health resources and help them to feel safe, supported, and heard during challenging times.
