Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Give this project a boost!
A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
We are an amazing, vibrant collection of artists in the inner-city, coastal Connecticut community of Bridgeport. Our resilient Title I kindergarten through eighth grade school is in the middle of a turbulent Title I district. We support students as they navigate every kind of emotional and social challenge that you can imagine. Economic need is high, but creative passion is higher! Please help our creative and talented middle school students touch the wonderful materials they need to thrive and explore.
My Project
My students endure a culture of food insecurity. In the cold winter months, it will be a great comfort for them to know that they are carrying home a meal that they can warm for themselves in the microwave. Being hungry and facing a cold walk home is scary for a child. Giving them the nutritional resources they need will provide them with a sense of self-empowerment, comfort and safety. Providing food will create a bond with our school community as a safe and caring place that addresses the whole child. We need to care for the body as well as the brain and emotions!
