My Project

A recent inventory of my classroom library shows the books have an average publication date of 2004. l do my best to get new and high-interest books for my students, but keeping up with the latest literature, the things that are check-out of public libraries with month-long waiting lists, is a challenge.

I would like to update my classroom library with current titles everyone is reading to support students who already love reading and inspire those who may not yet.

I have always prided myself on having an inviting learning space for my students, and my classroom library is one of the bright spots in my room. I recently cleaned out dated or damaged materials from my seven bookshelves and I am looking to replace the weeded books with the best in current popular YA fiction. My students don’t always have time to go to the library, so having access to modern novels will go a long way towards supporting their reading habits.

This grant would help fund over 60 new books released within the last two years. Thank you for investing in and creating a more enriching, welcoming reading environment for my students!
