My Students

I teach high school science in an urban school. I love my students, and try to help them learn in various ways. Unfortunately, our school does not have much of a budget, even for basic classroom supplies.

I teach biology, chemistry, and environmental science.

Science is a hard concept for several students to grasp. I like to vary the lessons and do guided notes, graphic organizers, worksheets, foldables, and poster projects. When we do lab activities, I like to print a lab sheet with the background information, materials, and procedures. Unfortunately, we only get one ream of paper a month to make copies, per teacher. This is not enough paper to adequately supply my classes. I make class sets, or only make one copy per group, instead of for each individual student. I am trying to prepare my students for science classes at the college levels by providing them with PowerPoints, making them do group projects, and having them read current news articles concerning science.

My Project

My class needs more copy paper. By providing our class with paper, I will be able to continue making note sheets, printing out the PowerPoints for each individual student, and do labs with lab sheets. I will better prepare my students for science at the college level as they will have learned the concepts in high school. I also hope to aid my students in learning better note-taking skills.

They will have the materials to better learn the concepts in science classes, as well as note-taking skills. I will be able to help prepare them for the college atmosphere with handouts and PowerPoints. Thank you for your continued support of science education in public schools.
