My students need various items such as books, activities, instruments, music, and tools to increase their mindfulness and yoga skills so they can maintain focus, manage emotions, and have a more positive classroom experience.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I work with 20 wonderful and inquisitive Pre-Kindergarten students in a very diverse school in Brooklyn, New York. Our class has children from many different cultures and children with many special abilities. The children love to learn new things every day!
Many of my Pre-K students have different learning styles and love to learn in a variety of ways!
The children would love to learn mindfulness and yoga as an enrichment activity! Yoga and mindfulness soothes the body and the mind and helps you focus on learning throughout the day.
My Project
School is a wonderful place where children learn new things daily. I truly believe in educating the "whole" child. This means physically, mentally, emotionally, etc. I am interested in introducing mindfulness and yoga at this young age for my students so they learn important skills in maintaining their emotions, managing stress, improving focusing skills, and improving mental and physical balance. Most importantly, I would like to help them keep a positive outlook on life and learning.
To learn mindfulness techniques, the children will need children books, music cds, instruments such as a singing bowl, a diffuser, a sound machine, and various other materials which will help guide them in their mindfulness journey.
In order to learn beginning yoga skills, the children will need music cds, a yoga pillow, instructional dvds, and children's books. The children will be so grateful to have these materials!
