This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students love using programs on the computer to help them learn the English language and help them become better readers. By giving them more opportunities to be on the computer would allow them to learn English language quicker and find a love for reading.
We do not have enough headphones for every student.
When students are using these programs without headphones in one room, it can get loud. Students can become distracted, frustrated and cannot work to the best of their ability. Half of my students are ENL and they benefit from listening to programs on the computer to build vocabulary and other skills. My students also come from income families and shelters.
My Project
In my third grade classroom, we are required to use the online program IReady and MYon, but we do not have enough headphones for every student. These programs are used for subject areas, including literacy and math.
Allowing each student to have a pair of headphones would incorporate more learning opportunities for each student.
It will also help the other students in the room that are not using technology at the time to be able to concentrate on the task that they are working on.
If each student has a set of headphones, it would allow me to set up numerous lessons and learning centers to meet each of their learning needs.
The possibilities would be endless if each student had a set of headphones.
