My Students

Our school strives to bring out the best in every student who walks through our doors. In order to do this, we offer classes that meet a variety of interests and do our best to help our students find what they are passionate about, so that they may find their personal strengths. This is achieved by having faculty and staff who are passionate about kids and what we teach.

I have the privilege of teaching six art classes this year; three Art 1 classes and three upper-level art classes.

Many of my Art 1 students have never had a formal art class before and the majority of the materials we use are completely new to them. Included in my 130 students are roughly 40-50 English Learners who are almost always exceptionally talented and dedicated, and often underprivileged.

My Project

The materials I've selected will be used to create "At-Home Art Kits" for my students during distance learning this school year. These are basic materials that most of my students don't have access to due to COVID and/or their home situations.

Once funded and received, I will divide these materials to create 130 take - home kits so that my students have the opportunity to be equally successful in my class.

Equity among my diverse learners is especially important to me as a teacher. Students will use these materials to create artworks such as landscapes, still-life compositions, perspective compositions, and portraits.
