This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember in school when you were trying your best to understand what your teacher was saying but something was just was not clicking? Well, the English Language Art centers will help us get that little extra support so we can succeed!

We are a Special Education classroom in a low income area in Massachusetts.

In our class we have children with Autism, Communication Delays as well as Developmental Delays. With the help of my classroom, it is our hope that the students will be able to mainstreamed into a regular classroom in two years. It is our goal to provide these children with stability as well as a loving and educational environment.

My Project

To ensure that my students get the most out of their time with me, I like to use many different resources throughout the day to teach. One of the most important times of the day is during our English Language Arts block. It is critical that these children learn the letters, the sounds and words in order for them to read. The alphabet puzzle, the sound sort along with the blends and digraphs sort will help the children learn the letters and sounds, the foundation of reading and writing. The Sight Word learning center and the I Can Build Simple Words center will help the children to recognize the important words they will use in their vocabulary and come across when reading. The sequencing cards will help the children when it comes to writing sentences and their comprehension; and the puzzle rack is to hold all the wonderful educational puzzles that I have instead of stacking them up and losing pieces.

With your generous donations, my students will have the opportunity to use these center activities to learn in a small group.

By having diverse learning centers it will reinforce what I as the teacher am trying to teach them. Letters, letter sounds and words are the important tools that these children are going to have to master in order to read and write and have a successful education.
