My Students

My students are the most thoughtful, kind, enthusiastic and incredible children I have ever met. They all share a love for learning that makes coming to work such an enjoyable part of my life. I am constantly inspired by the creativity that pours out of them on a daily basis. Most of my students are first generation Americans who come from a community that understands the importance and power of education. My students share this tenacity and dedication to learning knowing full well that education is the key to achieving your dreams. These eager learners are truly deserving of having every tool possible, readily available to help them soar to great heights. I am certain that sitting in my classroom are future doctors, lawyers, teachers, engineers, and artists just to name a few.

My Project

Adding to our library will expand my students’ access to great literature. My students love to read but sadly our library is very limited in content. My students have been exploring various genres of literature and have developed writing skills that make their great story tellers. Through the use of more literature, my students will be able to expand not only their fluency, vocabulary and comprehension of text but will also become amazing writers.

Literature helps cultivate the minds of children and enhances their imagination.

In the last few months, through direct literacy instruction as well as independent reading, 98% of my students are on or above grade level in both reading and writing. My goal is to get to 100%!
