My Project

With short, 50-minute class periods, so much time gets spent on traveling around the classroom. A student on one side of the class asks me a question that requires me to travel back to the board at the front. Then a student on the other side of the room asks for a demonstration navigating Google Classroom, which requires me to go to the board again. This happens innumerable times every lesson, and all the back and forth means I'm losing precious moments that could be spent at my students' side.

When kids ask questions, they are often in a vulnerable, uncertain moment.

Being close to them creates a sense of privacy and support. Having a wireless tablet in the class means I can spend more time at those vulnerable students' side, and they can more discreetly ask clarifying questions. My colleague found herself facing the same dilemma, and she would testify that having a wireless tablet has changed the game for building class confidence and a culture of exploration. With short, 50-minute classes, so much time gets spent traveling around the classroom! With a wireless tablet, colleagues have had success spending more precious time near students!

Even if traveling through the classroom a little less only saves enough time to answer an additional question or two, the impact that extra time will have is priceless! Every student wants to be heard. And being untethered means I can listen more!
