This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are creative, thoughtful and full of questions! They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging projects and challenges that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions! They come to school each day ready to try new things and take brave chances in order to grow both personally and academically. Truly, they are my inspiration!

Many of my students lack access to new technology and are only given the opportunity to utilize computers in the classroom environment.

I'm creating a project where students will have the opportunity to use VR headsets in clubs to learn and improve the behavior of those that struggle with staying focused.

Each child in my classroom absolutely loves learning, although the method and environment in which they learn best vary greatly. We incorporate a variety of learning strategies, group work, and alternative seating and learning options to ensure that each student's needs are met, right where they are! They are truly an incredible group, and I am so lucky and thankful to have a new group of learners that are excited and ready to learn each year!

My Project

Students will use VR Headsets to experience other parts of the world through applications in the headset. They will also get the opportunity to explore various applications that apply to STEM subjects. We have one headset and it has had a tremendous impact in the classroom environment. Unfortunately, with only one VR headset and a number of students, many of the students don't get the opportunity to utilize the headset. Having more headsets will increase time and improve lessons within the class. Our headset has also been used as a positive reward system for students who struggle with behavior management. It has had an incredible impact on improving their focus, dedication, and efforts in the classroom.
