My Students

Volleyball practice starts with warm up stretches. The girls have to be PUMPED up to play and so do the balls! We are six time defending champions at the Mason-Dixon Tournament and will be going to a new tournament, the Spike-Out, this year. We are working hard to have a successful season.

We are a deaf school and a public 3A volleyball program.

We compete in the FHSAA District play and the State Series Volleyball Tournament. We have both a Junior Varsity and Varsity program. Our JV is made up of 10 middle school girls and five high school girls. Our Varsity is comprised of 9th through 12th graders. Most of the girls come in with no experience and play from middle school until they graduate. We are a K-12 school that receives funding from the state level. We are limited in what we can use the state funds for and, therefore, we rely heavily on private donors for extracurricular program needs. Our program serves children from all over the state of Florida.

My Project

My students needs an air pump, a ball cart bag, and a pocket radar gun for practices and games. We have two ball carts, but the covers are falling apart and starting to slip off of the carts. The ball carts are very important to practice. They help keep practice moving at a high rate of speed. The carts are also used to store the balls after practice. The physical education department does have an air pump, but it is not accessible to us during practice and game times. Therefore, we have balls to use, but they are not properly inflated. These balls are useless to us. The pump will allow us to utilize all of the balls that we have and run a more effective practice. The Pocket Radar is what I'm most excited about! This will help the girls improve the intensity of their serve. They currently have no way to judge their serve. This will allow them to rate their serve and to improve upon it. It will greatly improve our game!

I require my volleyball players to maintain good grades and behavior in school and the residential program, be good role models for other students, and do community service.

(We do a Dig Pink Volleyball game where we donate all of the money for breast cancer research.) The requested items will help my team improve their volleyball skills which will contribute directly to building character as individuals.
