Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Attending a District 75 high school in Bronx, New York, all six students within my 6:1:1 classroom live and reside in the Bronx and have been diagnosed with autism. With a mixture of both male and female students, some students are primarily non-verbal or limited with verbal communication, requiring additional support.

Differentiated learning materials such as visual images and text handouts support student learning and peaks student interests!

With very minimal technology and colorful materials for each month's curriculum presently available within my classroom, retaining student focus can be challenging. Students in my classroom want to learn!

My Project

Students will be able to simply focus on color visuals for vocabulary terms along with an organizer for students to match vocabulary terms with images and/or definitions. Students will have 1:1 access to practice reviewing vocabulary terms and real-life images to make connections to unit vocabulary words for the four core subjects with an interactive vocabulary pocket chart along with materials for printing within the classroom without a delay in learning for students. Students will be able to practice their knowledge of vocabulary within a hands-on activity within the classroom.
