My Students

My students are fantastic kids, many with different backgrounds. I teach English Language Learners, where English is the 2nd, or sometimes 3rd language my students are learning.

I love where I teach, honestly, I don't know if I could teach elsewhere at this point in time.

Many of my students are outspoken, silly, sweet, and determined! Many of my students come to school, anxious to learn and open their minds to new and exciting things. They want to explore areas outside of our city and truly want to know what the world has in store for them.

My Project

This classroom supply request is for the 2016-2017 school year. One area of weakness for my students is vocabulary. The classroom I teach will have students that aren't native English speakers. They need to learn vocabulary ranging from idioms, to synonyms and antonyms, to multiple meaning words. The items I have requested emphasize vocabulary, as in language cards, games, and an instructional book. Other items I have requested like pens and highlighters are the items we seem to run out of mid year. I hope to have a well stocked supply cabinet so that students can have what they need all year without a period of time needing items and not having them.

My students biggest weakness overall is vocabulary.

Every year we try to focus on vocabulary games, centers, and activities. I think by having these items in the classroom, especially the games, students will be able to enhance and expand their minds without the students realizing they are learning while playing.
