My Students

I teach second grade in a small, urban school. Many of my students come from low-income, single-parent homes. These seven and eight-year-olds are smart, kind, and curious. They have big hearts and growing minds. Like most children their age, they love learning!

My Project

My school district voted for virtual instruction for the first semester of the upcoming school year. While I am deeply saddened that I will not be able to teach my students in person until February, I understand and fully support the decision to keep everyone safe. This decision does bring several challenges, however, to the teaching and learning process.

I am totally committed to making virtual instruction equitable, fun, and engaging!

In order to achieve this goal, I will need additional materials that can be used with my laptop to help facilitate my instruction. A headset with a microphone will ensure that my learners and I can hear one another clearly. A document camera will allow me to display and manipulate learning materials to increase understanding and offer remedial help for those who might need it. A magnetic whiteboard and markers will further support all learning as I offer my young learners the opportunity to see content in varied forms.
