My Project

I provide intensive reading instruction to an amazing group of students with dyslexia, ranging from second to fifth grade. Majority are below grade level standards in reading either by one or two grades.

My students thrive in activities that incorporate all modalities: hands on, kinesthetic, visual, tactile, and auditory.

By incorporating individual "Secret Stories" flashcards within group instruction, will give my students access to visual cues of sound patterns that align with memorable stories. Already having poster-size visuals displayed on the walls in the classroom, these smaller size flashcards will allow close proximity and more hands on opportunity to interact with drawings and stories.

In providing explicit and systematic instruction geared towards phonics, I would like to incorporate a teaching tool that emphasizes foundational skills in reading that offers tips and tricks that will help students excel in their decoding.
