My Students

The way my students learn is very diverse which challenges myself, as the teacher, to be inventive in the way I teach. By doing more hands-on mathematics activities, I can reach more of my students and encourage them to learn. I try to expose them to fun new ways to learn that they have never experienced before.

My students are very special to me, so I want to equip them with a strong understanding and love for mathematics.

The materials from this project will help students learn through hands-on activities. Many of my students have the preconceived notation that math is extremely difficult and give up before they begin. Through hands-on learning, I will help show them how abstract concepts can be concrete.

My school is steeped in tradition and community pride. Through classroom activities, my students are learning to be respectful, hardworking, and carry on the success known from our school.

My Project

These materials will help my students visualize math concepts that may otherwise be difficult to grasp. Students will be able to manipulate equations and factor with ease thanks to these materials. Algebra Tiles are a good resource for teaching factoring and equations. The Hands-On equations will allow students to visualize how to solve multi-step equations. The books will also offer alternative teaching ideas for myself; thus, making me a better teacher.

These hands-on materials will give movement and a concrete visual to an abstract idea, which will make a major difference in my students' understanding.

These materials will also keep my students engaged and excited about math.
