Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Most of my students have Autism, most have difficulties with acquiring, expressing, and understanding language without visual supports. Having a laminator and laminating sheets will allow me to provide my students with all the pictures needed to support their language development; to be able to comprehend and communicate. I use visuals in many ways, laminated pictures will support comprehension of stories or other text. I will create multiple choice visuals to respond to questions, sequencing cards to help my students understand the main events of a story, and will provide text specific pictures to discuss character traits.

My students need visual supports to communicate their needs, make comments, understand our daily schedule, develop vocabulary, describe their feeling, join play or other social activities, to make friends, and to answer questions related to literature (show comprehension).

Having a laminator with the required laminating sheets will protect the pictures for years to come. I will be able to use them with other students with disabilities who need visual supports and with students who are learning English as a second language.
