My Project

I was the grateful recipient of a laminating machine and other supplies needed to make visual supports thanks to the generosity of Donors Choose. So now I am hoping to obtain a color printer that will be used in conjunction with the laminator.

The printer will allow students to have better access to interactive books, task folders, and personalized visual schedules to use in the classrooms.

Many children with language delays, or attention issues have difficulty listening to stories. Adding visual supports to adapt the books increases engagement so all of the children can participate while the teacher reads a story. Creating visual schedules and choice boards helps children learn to regulate their emotions and cope with sensory overload. Task folders help children learn simple concepts such as colors, letters, categories, etc. while being physically engaged in the task to increase their interest. These are some of the specific items that will be made using the supplies requested. Some of these items need to be individualized for each student, therefore they are created throughout the school year. The use of color pictures is more effective than black and white pictures, thus the request for a color printer and ink.
